Best termite treatments?

There are two types of termite treatments, termite treatments for active termite infestations and termite prevention treatments.  Both treatments have similarities.  Active termite treatments differ in that the application of termiticide foams and liquids are often necessary to deal with the termites inside your home.

Termite prevention treatments involve the use of either liquid termiticides applied in a trench around your home or the installation of termite bait stations at 10-20 foot intervals.  Both treatments are effective preventing termite infestations if done properly.  Termite bait stations have the added advantage of never needing to be repeated.  Each year, during the annual termite inspection for contract renewal, your termite specialist will simply replace the bait in each termite bait station.

What are black bed bugs and baby bed bugs?

Bed bugs are tan to darker brown in color.  The only time bed bugs may appear black is after a blood meal.  Bed bugs are tiny insects at about .15 inch in diameter, with six legs and two antennae.

What do baby bed bugs look like?  Baby bed bugs, after emerging from eggs, are called bed bug nymphs.  Baby bed bugs are translucent and whitish to yellow in color.  Because of their tiny size and light color, baby bed bugs can be difficult to see.

What do squirrel droppings look like?

Droppings from an unknown animal in your home need to be properly identified before coming up with a plan to rid your home of the pest.  Squirrel droppings are frequently confused with similar looking droppings from rats, chipmunks, possums, and raccoons.  So what do squirrel droppings look like?

Squirrel droppings are similar to mouse droppings but much larger at 3/8 inch and 1/8 inch in diameter.  Squirrel droppings are oblong with rounded tips.  Fresh squirrel droppings are darker brown in color, but lighten as they age.

How to get rid of rats in house fast?

Getting rid of rats quickly in your home requires several steps.  The first, and most critical step, is to identify points on entry for rats into your home and schedule structural repairs.  For most homeowners, the second step involves proper placement of rat traps, including snap traps, glue traps, and live catch traps.

If trapping is unsuccessful, rat poison may be necessary.  Rat poison is extremely dangerous and should be left to pest professionals.  If a homeowner decides to try the DIY route with rat poison, rat poison should be placed in locked rat bait stations to prevent non-target poisoning of humans, other wildlife, and pets.

Long term effects of spider bites?

Spider bites that do not become severe often involve temporary pain, swelling, and redness.  More serious spider bites can cause cramping, tremors, sweating, nausea, and vomiting.  Depending on the type of spider bite and severity of symptoms, medical attention may be required.

Spider bites with long-term effects include black widow spider bites and brown recluse spider bites.  Tissue necrosis and death can occur.  Fortunately, most spider bites are either from non-poisonous spiders or do not advance to this stage.

What to do when rat poison not working?

Rat poison is both highly effective at getting rid of rats and extremely dangerous.  Accidental poisonings of humans and non-target pests, including pets, is a possibility.  Rat poison is best used by licensed pest professionals and contained in locked bait stations.

When rat poison is not working, you have several options:

1.Rotate rat baits to find a bait more palatable to the rats

2.Use snap traps and glue board traps to catch rats

3.Consider structural repairs to eliminate points to entry into your home.

Most common poisonous spiders in Mississippi?

Mississippi’s warm humid climate is the perfect environment for spiders, and we have tons of them.  Fortunately, most spiders in Mississippi are harmless and quite beneficial as they control unwanted crawling and flying insects around the home.

There are 4 species of poisonous spiders in Mississippi: Black widow spider, Brown widow spider, Brown recluse spider, and the black-footed yellow sac spider.  If bitten by one of these spiders, medical attention may be required.  Spider bites can become infected and/or cause tissue necrosis.
