Synergy² Jackson Pest Control: Answering Your Questions

1.How do you get rid of German roaches quickly?

How to get rid of German roaches overnight?  Unfortunately there is not a simple answer to this very common question.  The most simple solution, a roach fogger, will likely be ineffective.  German roach infestations can be among the most difficult-to-solve pest problems.

German roaches love to be inside our homes where there is warmth and humidity.  They also reproduce quickly. What to do?  Supplement any type of insecticide spray with a bait specific to German roaches.

If you are dealing with other type of roach infestations, such as American cockroaches or brown-banded cockroaches, be aware that the best treatment options are species-dependent.

2.How can you tell the difference between mouse or squirrel droppings in the attic?

So you discover droppings around your home, in the living area, or in the attic.  Do you know how to identify rat droppings or mice droppings?  What about squirrel poop vs. rat poop?  Droppings or poop can be an excellent early indicator of what type of pest you are dealing with.

Droppings from mice are typically dark in color and about the size of a grain of rice with pointed ends.  Rat droppings are larger than mouse droppings and curved.  Squirrel droppings look much more similar to rat droppings, except you may notice a twist in the middle of the dropping.  It is not unusual for droppings from squirrels to occur in clusters.

3.How do you get rid of bats in a house or attic?

Getting rid of bats in a home or attic usually involves exclusion plus one-way bat traps. Once bats leave the home repairs must be made to prevent bats from gaining entry to the home again.  Remember, bats are a federally-protected species.  Check out our recent blog post on getting rid of bats in your home:

What kills rats instantly and gets rid of rats in a house fast?

Rodent bait is a quick and effective way to deal with an infestation of rodents, including rats and mice.  Poison containing rat baits must be used very carefully and in locked containers inaccessible to humans and other wildlife.  The best poisons for killing rats are also highly toxic to other animals.

4.What is quarterly pest prevention service and is it worth it for your Jackson, MS home?

Quarterly pest prevention is a contract service where an exterminator comes to your home on a regular schedule. “Quarterly” means four times a year, or approximately every three months.  If this seems like too much or too little for your home, most companies offer other contracted service schedules. Monthly and bimonthly are standard options for homes prone to pests. Twice a year is a common option for households who rarely have problems with pests.  Check out our recent blog post on quarterly pest services here:
